Sports therapists use physical techniques to treat injuries and other problems in athletes. They also teach people how to prevent injuries and improve performance.

A Sports Therapist can vary massively in skills and ability, and as a profession there are many different skills that one may offer, and another not…

This refers to “Hands on”  techniques directly affecting muscles, ligaments and tendons – “soft tissues”.  Unfortunately the profession is not currently statutorily regulated – meaning anyone can call themselves a sports therapist. Here we make sure everyone is qualified (for the techniques and skills offered) and insured and self-regulate.  There are organisations you can join and adhere to their standards to give the public confidence and peace of mind.  Mike currently works with the Sports Therapy Organisation (STO).

Sports massage is a type of bodywork that focuses on improving athletic performance by reducing muscle tension and increasing blood flow. It also helps prevent injuries and improve recovery after exercise.

There are many benefits to sports massage. First, it reduces muscle tension and improves circulation. This makes muscles less likely to become injured during exercise. Second, it helps reduce soreness and stiffness after exercise. Third, it promotes healing and prevents injury. Fourth, it relieves stress and anxiety. Fifth, it helps people relax and sleep better at night. Sixth, it boosts energy levels and improves mood. Seventh, it enhances flexibility and range of motion. Eighth, it strengthens connective tissue and improves posture. Ninth, it improves athletic performance. Tenth, it helps people recover faster from exercise.

Many people enjoy sports massage because it helps them relax after an intense workout. It also reduces pain and improves circulation. In addition, it can improve athletic performance by increasing flexibility and range of motion.

Dry needling is one of the most effective treatments for chronic pain conditions like osteoarthritis, tendonitis, and myofascial trigger points. Discover what makes it so popular!

It has been shown to reduce inflammation in muscles and improve range of motion.

Dry needling works by stimulating the release of endorphins, natural chemicals that help reduce pain. This technique also helps stimulate blood flow to the area being treated, which reduces swelling and improves circulation.

Anyone who has been assessed with a painful condition should consider dry needling as an option. In fact, some people use it as part of their regular treatment plan. Although if your not a fan of “needles” there are many other alternatives to try.  Dry needling is performed by inserting fine needles into muscle tissue to stimulate blood flow and break up adhesions (scar tissue). This helps reduce inflammation and improve range of motion.  If you’re suffering from chronic pain, dry needling is a safe, non-invasive treatment option that can help relieve symptoms. It’s also a good idea to schedule an appointment with a competent professional before starting any new therapy.

It’s also great for massaging sore spots or areas that hurt.

Massage guns come in many different sizes and shapes, so there’s something for everyone. They’re easy to use, affordable, and effective.

There are many benefits to using a massage gun. One of the main reasons people choose to buy one is because it’s portable. You can take it with you anywhere you go, whether it’s at home, work, or even when traveling. Another reason people love them is because they’re easy to operate. All you need to do is press down on the trigger and the massage gun will start moving up and down.

There are two different types of massage guns available today. The first type is called a handheld massage gun. This type of massage gun has a handle that allows you to hold it while you use it. The other type is called a stand-up massage gun. With this type of massage gun, you place it on a table or chair and then use it to apply pressure to your body.

There are two main ways to use a massage gun. You can either hold it yourself or let another person do it. If you choose to do it yourself, make sure you follow the instructions carefully. Otherwise, you might end up hurting yourself.  Mike has undergone training and has 3 certificates on using the “handheld percussive devices” utilizing “local vibration”

Deep tissue massage is an excellent way to relax muscles that have been overused or strained. It also helps relieve pain in areas where there is tension.

Deep tissue massage uses deep pressure to release muscle knots and trigger points. This type of massage has been used by athletes and other people who need to work out regularly. It is also helpful for those with arthritis, fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel syndrome, and back pain.

Deep tissue massage is an excellent form of relaxation therapy because it helps relieve stress and tension throughout the entire body. It improves circulation, relieves stiffness, and reduces inflammation. It also stimulates lymphatic drainage, which helps remove toxins from the body.

If you’re interested in learning more about deep tissue massage, there are several things you should do before treatment begins. First, make sure you’ve had adequate rest and sleep. Second, eat a healthy diet with plenty of protein and fibre. Third, drink lots of water. Fourth, avoid alcohol and caffeine. Finally, try not to exercise too much the day of the treatment.

Remedial massage is a type of massage that is focused on relieving pain and tension in the muscles. It is often used to treat injuries, but can also be beneficial for people who experience chronic pain or tension. Remedial massage can help to improve range of motion, increase circulation, and reduce stress. It is typically performed by a trained therapist using specific techniques and strokes.

Remedial soft tissue treatments, are a type of massage that is used to treat musculoskeletal problems. It is a form of therapy that dates back thousands of years. The ancient Egyptians and Greeks used massage to relieve pain and promote healing.

The early Chinese medical texts also mention the use of massage for various conditions. In the West, remedial massage was developed in the 19th century by Dr. James Cyriax. He adapted techniques from Swedish massage and osteopathy.

Today, remedial massage is widely used to treat a variety of conditions, including muscle strains, tendonitis, headaches, and TMJ disorders.

Osteopathy is based on the principle that the body has an innate ability to heal itself. Osteopaths use manipulative techniques to restore balance within the body. They believe that this will allow the body to function more effectively and reduce pain.
